Someone Get Me A Time Machine Please!!!
Misc July 11th, 2007
In school I was told by my teachers to be on time. At my house I was told by my parents to be on time to the dinner. In my office I am told to do work on time. During my Graduation I was told like every body to be on time the college. It’s a different issue that I never paid any heed to them. I found this Time very difficult and complex. With all this spoon-feeding by everyone since my child hood about the importance of time, you must be wondering whether I am now good at managing my time. No. A big No. This lecturing about time might go till I learn to manage it properly. I forgot the count of the number of times I heard the phrase “Learn to manage your Time”. It’s rather a difficult one. The tragedy over here is not only the disability to manage time but I am made to listen to all those people who managed time very well. Like one of my aunt who used to be at the bus stop by 7 in the morning and she was so punctual that people used to set their time to 7 by the time she came to the stand. Climbing the Everest is much easier I suppose.
What is it that makes time that important? All because it is limited like petrol and coal? Is that the reason that it is costlier? More seriously, what is management of time? Doing your work within time and not actually wasting it. What is the exact time to be taken to burn a CD? Is their any limited time? If it is 10 minutes on an Intel Pentium IV machine with good configuration, then on a P III machine it may take 15 minutes. Does that mean the user of the P III machine is bad in managing his time all when compared to the P IV4 machine user? Is it logical? What makes an employee good employee. He does his work before the time given. Who sets the deadline? The Boss. Is the boss good at managing the time? How much time does he take to complete his job? Does he complete it before the time? Does being a boss entitle you to manage your time properly? Need not be. It’s all because he is also run by the same time, which runs us all. The boss is paid if he does the work within the time set by the clients and you are to complete your work within your time limit. Time is Money and that’s how this world goes.
Time gone is Past. Right? We cannot go into past and can only wait for the future. So what we have in our hand is present. Moreover we are told not to think too much of past as past is past. What I believe is that you have as many chances in future as you had in the past. It is only you who has to recognize them. But, why are we made to learn that opportunity knocks only once? Think over.
What I was doing, what I am doing or what I will be doing the next hour won’t matter as long as I have an opportunity to go back in time and change whatever mistakes I have done. Yes. I always had this wish of controlling the Time. Like having my sleeping time more, decreasing the work time and increasing the hanging out time with my friends without effecting my career and future and also without disturbing the limit of 24 hours a day. Take all those decisions, which were wrong again and make more shrewd decisions. I know it is not possible. But come to think of it when you can actually do it.
The basic rule is that time makes you, me and the entire world run. You need to go by the Time. Even the person who runs the country, our own Prime Minister is run by the time. We may even be left behind the time if we want to control the time. Like one of my acquaintances says that your past and present are what you see and not what they are. Makes sense. At least to me.
Time can be wasted, saved or bought. Time wasting is what generally I do. Saving of time is more like saving time not only to utilize time but also to show how much of it is not wasted. It can be taken in any way. Buying of time is asking for more time when you do not have an opportunity to. It is like taking more time to do the same work. It can be or cannot be wasting of time depending on the situation.
Setting aside all the above serious issues, if given a chance I would still want to go back in time and take all better decisions, do not waste time in watching the match which India is destined to lose, never get into a relation which, I might break it later. The bad part over here is that it makes life monotonous and there will be no failure to enjoy what success really is.
Time is really a big thing folks and I am getting to know it as I write this.

For me time is very very important as i work 18-20 hours/day for my own company in research etc.
I would always try to get a time machine to get back to the time i wasted as a teenager.
