Google n YahooMerging of two companies or acquisition of one company by another always fascinated me. The fascination was not because of emergence of a new powerful company, but the mere idea of looking into the financial and accounting side of these mergers and acquisitions. In the past week or so, I have been listening to many of these mergers and acquisitions where in the two powerful companies on the Internet, Yahoo and Google have been on a buying spree. They seem to be buying whatever company they come in sight with. The race for the top spot is going strong with these two contenders leaving no stone unturned to dish out a way to beat the other contender.

Yahoo
Companies, which have been acquired by Yahoo, are: -
Flickr, a photo sharing site
MyBlogLog
Zimbra, a collaborative online suite that integrates email and group calendar using an AJAX interface

Yahoo already announced an ad deal with social network Bebo, and now they will be announcing the acquisition of BuzzTracker.com, which is a news aggregator. Yahoo will be buying Overture, the paid for search pioneer. It will also be acquiring Musicmatch, digital music software and services provider.

I was left to ponder what would be the condition if these merging and acquisitions take place within the blogosphere? It could be something like a very well earning blog owner buying out a lesser-known blog with a good content with a promise to enhance its revenue and giving the owner a share accordingly. This way there will be competition among the pro’s in blogging to target the best blogger post. It may not be a bad thought with majority of the bloggers wanting to share space with the biggies both in blogging and revenue sharing arena.

Imagine how the total picture of what blogging would change in the minds of the general public? It might be viewed as a revenue-generating source in a much wider sense and also by many people and not by a select few. Blogging might be considered as a full time earning source by many guys all the world what with blogging these days being done in the local languages and not only in English.

More specifically how about making these mergers and acquisitions legal with lawyers round the world setting up their services for these mergers and make them look more professional and legal in the eyes of public. These teachers of law might as well rake in some moolah in the process. Even though I have come across any sort of merging in the blogosphere, I would certainly love to see them happening for the pure interest of knowing how it looks like.

Yours Always,
