Expenditure Management
My life January 25th, 2007Its not always a better sight to view your bank statement if you know the expenses have increased that particular time. I had the experience of it last month when I was going through my expenses. Believe me I could not think any thing but the expenditure incurred all through the night. Saving was the word that came to my mind and I instantly thought of doing the same.
I started with cutting down on my phone bill and my fuel bill. Whenever you think of saving or you thought you have more money because of less expenditure, somewhere from a corner of this world expenditure comes and stands in front of you. Why this happens is what I am reasoning out. I have been always the victim of this phenomenon.
I had almost cut down on most of my expenses. And just when I was going to my office, my vehicle started giving trouble and I knew that expenditure is round the corner. I had to spend 5000 bucks on it. Likewise I thought of buying some accessories for my computer from the money I saved. That very same day I broke my spectacles!!! This generally happens whenever we try to think too much in to the future. The most fascinating part here is that the amount of money we think is sufficient will always be less or equal to the cost of the expenditure. More often than not it’s the former one which is experienced. What happens is that the things we fancy are the one’s we generally buy only after we lost the excitement of buying it. Ultimately we buy it out of necessity.
I always have this habit of giving gift to people on new year. This time my new year expenses totalled to around 2000 bucks. Most of it was spent on giving gifts to my friends and relatives. Ironically one of my newyear rsesolution was to save more money. Resolutions are meant to be broken afterall. One thing we generally feel is not so important while using but repent after seeing the bill is the cell phone bill. It is really strange that I donot temember calling so many people once I see my bill. And credit is to be given to these service providers who leave no stone unturned to squeeze money out of our pockets. I remember these companies selling recharging cards of lesser dominations for people to easily buy when ever they want. They inturn have easily increased their sales. No one thinks twice before buying a 10 bucks or 20 bucks recharge card.
I am a very avid reader of books and one of my weakness has been spending uncontrollably on books once I am in a book fair. Buying books and reading them is good but I generally buy books out of interest on the topic. More often than not such books never have the luck to be read in near future. I read them, may be say couple of months after buying them. Its not only with books. Many a time we buy things for future but that future never come and we ultimately donot use it. If we are fortunate someone who is more knowledgable and curious may find more proper use for it.
Whatever be the system of saving your money u adopt, its not always that you end up saving everytime. It does not mean that you stop saving. Its only that you will enjoy your victory only if you know that failure exists. As for me I am still trying to find why all this happens to me.
Yours Always,
