Buying things has never been easy for me. The permutations and combinations which go into buying a particular item goes for many weeks before I actually decide upon a particular model. After, all the buying, unpacking and placing the new object in its place is over, a feeling that my house is becoming more modern takes over me. But as they say every story has other side. Apart from the hole created in my pocket, I tend to take so much care that I might faint if I find any scratch on it after buying it. For the first few days when I buy anything, the care I take is very comical to many. Even to switch on the button, I use so delicate pressure that I fear it might get damaged. So strange that the same item doesn’t get the same care when it becomes a little older.

Car is one of the best examples we can have. The first few weeks I used to clean it so thoroughly that even a small amount of dirt on my car made me feel that it looked bad. And with passing of time the care was also started diminishing and by the time the car was a year old it was not on my favourites lists. I totally forgot about it. I rarely clean it and that also when it is in real bad shape. It is not only with car but it happens with many other things. A small scratch on any new item I buy can have a big impact on me. It is but natural to expect them to be new for a few more days or may be for some weeks. The moment they have a scratch or dents on them, I sort of loose that interest in taking the same old care.

Many times I do not even know how these dents come on to my car or a scratch on to my cell. It just happens I suppose. Like I buy a new watch and take all the care in this world not to get it spoiled. I walk very carefully not to get my watch get scratched on to any surface. But by the time I reach my place I find a scratch on the watch. The scratch may be very small that I may have to strain my eyes to locate it. But a scratch is a scratch and I know it. I never can feel that the watch is a new one.

Last winter I bought a sweatshirt to keep me warm. It was a nice red and blue mix coloured shirt. I liked it the moment I saw it in the store. I wore it a couple of times and may be after two or three washes I found a small mark near the collar. It was a yellow mark which is not so evident but just enough to make me feel that I am wearing a sweatshirt, which is no more a new one.

Shoes are one of the few things I feel I have to take good care. After all not only do they bear our whole weight but also compliment our dressing. Last month I got a good branded shoe for a reasonably good price. After every wear I used to repack them in the exact way in which they were when I bought them. I used to clean them with the best polish available in the market. It wasn’t long before the sole of my shoe came off. I stuck it with the best glue available in the market. It is fine now but it is no more that new shoe which needs more attention. The irony over here is that we need to be more careful with shoes half spoiled than with a new one so that we can use them for long. But we tend to think otherwise.

When I started my website, apart from feeling great, I felt a new dimension has been added to my profile. Every time I opened my website, not only that particular page but also everything which is connected to it seemed to be new. I felt how could some one let his website be down due to some stupid reason.. Last week my website was down for 4 days and I could not do anything regarding that. Now whenever I open my site I feel I have saved my website and its data. It no longer looks new to me.

I just updated my computer very recently. My computer suddenly started loading faster and there is a sense of something new in my computer. It boots much faster, the applications open quickly and I don’t need to wait for ages for my work to get over. I seriously wish that I do not face any thing which will make me stop having this feeling.

Yours Always,
