Wah! Taj - Seven Wonders Of the World

The results are out and Taj Mahal has been included in the coveted list of the Seven Wonders Of The World.The following are the wonders of the world:
The results were announced at the event conducted at Lisbon, the capital of Portugal. The ceremony lasted for about one-and-a-half-hour at Portugal’s largest venue, the Estadio da Luz. The presentation was graced by celebrities like Bipasha Basu, Hillary Swank, Ben Kingsley, Neil Armstrong and Cristiano Ronaldo. Jennifer Lopez , Chaka Khan and Dulce Pontes performed at the event.
The selection of the seven wonders was done through enabling the people around the world either by SMS or calling through their phones. About 100 million people voted for their respective choices.
Taj Mahal, known to symbolise the word romance was built by Shahjahan, the King of Mughal Empire in loving memory of his wife Mumtaj Mahal. The construction of the Taj began in 1632 and was completed in 1648. The white marble had in all twenty eight types of precious and semi-precious stones inlaid in it. The total cost of the Taj Mahal’s construction has been estimated to be about 32 million rupees.
The selection of Taj Mahal as one of the seven wonders is itself a great achievement for Indians and also the lovers of architecture round the world. Even if the Taj would not have been selected it would have remained as one of the most beautiful and perfectly crafted master piece. Thanks to all those who voted for the Taj Mahal.

Im glad Romes Colosseum got picked, thats one of my favorites. Although I am suprised that Stonehenge didnt get picked.

I am thrilled not just for the Taj but for other wonders. Although its always gr8 to see a monument from your country get selected in the seven wonders.
